During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to survive.
I am fascinated. This review will be short and brief. This movie fascinate me with its story, plot, pacing, the dialogue, comedy and heart. Its about a man stranded on Mars, alone, but it doesn't come up depressing and sad. This movie came up to be a fun and thrilling ride all the way from its first scene to the last. There were some gut wrenching moments, some really emotional moments and it was sprinkled with humorous fun. Its a good blend. The best thing is that this movie was so good it made us felt like the whole movie was real and we were watching a documentary. It felt real and all of us root for Mark Watney. Speaking of which, this movie had a great ensemble cast and all of them gave their best performances. All of the characters were perfectly written and the execution was brilliantly done. The dynamics between the characters made the movie more and more real and believable and that's what really captivates me.
There were some amazing shot but, sometimes the special effects bothered me. It was not the best but it was still fine. Plus the score was just 'ok'. I can't imagine if this movie had better score. How cool would that be?
This movies was amazing from top to bottom. It has great story with amazing character and a spectacular performances from the cast. This movie felt much-much shorter than its 2 hour 20 minutes runtime. I would give The Martian an 'A'. Recommended for all.
